CL and League Cup draw. Nelson is released.

So, over the last couple of days, we’ve found out who we’ll be facing in two of the many competitions we’ll be taking part in this season.

In the League Cup - and despite this competition getting a different name every few years depending on the sponsor, I’ll still call it the League Cup - we’ll face Ipswich Town, who we last met in this competition 15 years ago.

It was the semi-final, and a rather fragile Arsenal side lost the first leg 1-0 away from home before putting things right with a 3-0 win at the Emirates. We then went on to lose the final to Birmingham, because of course we did.

Slightly tougher opponents in the Champions League league stage compared to last season, if you ask me. It’s really annoying that it seems like we simply cannot avoid Bayern, but on the upside, I’m glad we don’t have to travel to Azerbaijan to play this year’s debutants, Sabah.

More importantly, we need the fixture list to be kind to us. I’d rather not be travelling to Anfield straight after an away game at the Allianz Arena, for example.

In other news, Arsenal have decided to part ways with Reiss Nelson. Feels like he’s been around forever, and during that time we all hoped he would finally unleash his potential. Sadly, it was never meant to be. For defferent reasons.

But we’ll always remember that winner against Bournemouth.
